Solar Power for the Average Home
Medium sized systems are suitable if you are running one or two fridges and or a small air conditioner occasionally, plus a few other appliances. Systems for this application are commonly sized from 1 to 3 kW.
Considerations with sizing
In relation to appliances that are run infrequently. If, for example your system is large enough to offset your air conditioner use, but the air-con is only used a couple of times a year, then the money may be better spent installing roof top ventilation to help reduce the need for air conditioning.
An over-sized system will benefit your power company, as they are able to sell the power you generate, for an easy profit.
