Much like its 240 volt electric counterpart, the Centrex 2000 NE (non electric) composting toilet is appropriate for light full-time residential purposes (families of four or less) and for mid to heavy holiday use.
For holiday use this system will only need to be emptied annually. When being used in a residential capacity the humus will need to be removed more frequently, typically every 3-5 months for a family of four.
Installation of our 12-volt 1.9 watt fan is recommended, especially with heavy use or on properties with dense tree surrounds or hills that cause a downdraft. The fan works to emit any odours and assists with processing.
Since there is no heating component (see 240 volt version), evaporation depends largely on ambient temperature in this system. As a result, a drainage pipe is connected to a small sub surface gravel pit to drain off excess moisture.
The Centrex 2000 NE composting toilet can be supplied as a microflush model or a waterless model. In the waterless model the waste falls under gravity into the drum of the composter. In the case of the microflush model the waste is transferred by the micro flush. The flush of 0.5 litres of water from the ceramic pedestal carries the waste sideways and then down into the drum of the processor. From this point on the two modes are identical. The microflush pedestal can be up to 4 metres away from the composter in a horizontal plain and a couple of floors up vertically.
The Centrex 2000 has received Australian Standards certification and is approved in most states. It can be used with one or more SeaLand Microflush Pedestal or Waterless Pedestals, purchased separately.
Note: If purchasing a Centrex 2000 NE with a waterless pedestal, a waterless kit would be required for the installation.
